AROUND IDEAWOOD

Nature &
Creativity
United

We hope to build something good and different here. The plan has been put into action and now you can enjoy a unique countryside experience within the six acres of gardens & woodland. It’s a great base. From here you can explore the magical Welsh coast, swimming, surfing, walking, climbing, cycling or any other ‘ing’ you can think of. See our ‘must do’ list here.

NATURE INSPIRED GOODS

Ideawood is the creation of national and international award winning designer Chris Lee, whose studio is located in a once neglected, now cherished woodland in Pembrokeshire, West Wales. Ideawood is developing new, instantly collectable products, inspired by long forgotten stories, images and objects, drawn from nature. Visit their store here and see why galleries, wildlife trusts and country houses are stocking their products.

FIVE ACRES OF WOODLAND

Originally planted with Japanese larch, wild cherry, ash, oak, alder, hazel and more, some of the wood is cramped and in poor condition so we’re developing a woodland management plan to sort this out. As we remove some of the old wood, we’re not only making space for native deciduous species that support wildlife and biodiversity; we’re revealing space for ideas, experiences and surprises that people can explore when they visit.

WILDLIFE ON THE EDGE

The wood was planted to address potentially negative environmental impacts of the realignment of the A477 road which leads from the M4 via Cosheston to Pembroke Dock. The wood contains a variety of species including nesting snipe, buzzard and kestrel but also provides a seasonal corridor for badgers, otters, fox and most importantly Stackpole estate’s Greater Horseshoe bat colony - the largest in Wales.

FROM FOOD TO FORD

Our friends at the Brewery Inn within Cosheston village serve great lunchtime and supper meals along with some fine local ales and cider. The village is a five minute scenic walk, crossing the old ford and up a steep hill but easier coming back after a few drinks! Visit Martha’s Kitchen a daytime restaurant & coffee shop with the added attraction of a great garden centre to while away the hour!
